Sitting on the carriage seat, Eco quietly watched as Belca took off to go grab something to eat. Patiently, he turned to look at Orhaldi as the other continued to look after the prince as he finally disappeared from view. Once he was sure they were alone, a grin split on the blond bards lips. "You're looking after Belca pretty hard."
Startled, the former captain turned as if he had been electrocuted. "Excuse me?!"
Looking out the window as the rain started, Eco lifted up a finger as he traced the chilled windowpane with his pointed finger, before looking coyly at the elder male. "Come to think of it, anyone else would have been upset that they fell for a boy dressing to be a girl. But, then again, you seem to accept Belca for what he is."
"Well of course, he's a prince. I'd protect him with my life."
Shaking his head, Eco smiled cheerfully clapping a hand down on the larger man's shoulder, "You can't fool a bard when it comes to matters of the heart. You can try, but I don't think you're the type who could so easily lie."
Orhaldi started to stammer as the blond opened the door, and hopped out into the rain. "Well that's enough of a lead don't you think? He's probably quite a way ahead of us now. We should get going or he's going to regret taking off without us!"
Leaving a sputtering Linna in the coach, Eco jumped out and took off into a run.
I guess I'll have to sing a song of untold love for now!

Musca sat at the table with Ossan as they ate dinner that night. It was almost time to turn in and the young girl seemed to be more troubled than usual. Reaching over gently, the astelion gently tapped the table in front of her, "You should eat and save your strength because we still have a long way to go."
Startling the young girl, she dropped her fork onto her plate with a soft huff. Puffing up her cheeks she looked out the window, "I don't need you to tell me that! I'll be just fine Seamrog."
Ossan smiled a little at the name and shook his head as he went back to cutting the meat with a large knife. Chewing thoughtfully he noticed that Musca still seemed a little bothered by something. Continuing to cut pieces of meat to eat, the mercenary just ignored her for a moment as he continued sit in comfortable silence. Little did he know that his dinner was about to be ruined.
"Seamrog?"
"Yes?" Ossan paused for a moment as he turned to look back at her. She looked extremely serious as she stood up hitting her little hands on the table. Patrons stopped and stared as he tried to stop her from an outburst that could blow their cover.
"We are going to save my brother, right?"
"Yes. That's why we are making this trip."
"Good. Because I want to save him before he has anymore stomach aches!" Musca said as she looked very serious.
Ossan blinked and slowly turned to fully face her, "Stomach aches?"
"Yes. My brother was making these groans that sounded as if he was in pain and he was panting very heavy. That bad man that sent me away kept telling him to be quiet and not to make noise. But, brother sounded like he was in pain."
Looking down it took the older man three seconds to figure out what she was describing. Somehow when he looked back at his plate, he was no longer hungry.

[When You're Older]
It wasn't the first time that Orhaldi had seen Belca dressed up as a woman, and the elder male knew it was far from his last. Waiting outside the room with Ossan and Musca, all he could do was think of the way the skirt brushed against Belca's slender legs, and how the hair from the wig looked when it flowed over his shoulder.
What would it feel like for those slender legs to be wrapped around his waist, and for that wig to be matted and tangled, and for Belca to-
A cough interrupted him from his thoughts, and Linna noticed both Osssan and Musca now staring at him. "Y-yes?"
"Are you nervous about something?"
Orhaldi felt his cheeks heat up as he turned away coughing. "Not really."
The door opened and stepping out first was Eco. He was dressed as a coachman, and leading Belca out, the other was dressed as a maid. The former captain felt his mouth go dry, as Belca looked shyly up at him. His face flushed, and he coughed. "I'll be waiting at the entrance of the inn."
"Wow Belca you really look pretty." Ossan chuckled as he gave a soft whistle.
Musca looked after Orhaldi and turned to look up at Ossan, "Why was that mans face so red?"
Ossan gave a slight cough, and turned to look at Eco and Belca who seemed to be talking about their plans for entering the castle, "You'll find out when you're older."

The snow had fallen all night, and had blanketed the southern planes in a nice coat of snow. Eco's fever had subsided, and he had moved out of the room. It shouldn't have surprised him when Deitrich appeared in the hallway. "Eco we need to talk?"
"Oh? About what?" Eco smiled, but inside he felt a slight sense of dread. Maybe they shouldn't have stayed after all.
"It's about that boy you're with and also-"
"Ah! You mean my traveling companion?" Eco smiled and looked back at the room the prince slept in peacefully. A soft noise parted from his throat as the Earl of Arlon grabbed his hand and thrust a sword into his captive hand.
"Deit- I mean Noah. What are you trying to do?"
Opening up his hand, the primseed that should have been in Belca's clothing dropped down and swung in a pendulum like motion. "Let's play a small game. If you can beat me at a sword fight Eco, since you served my father I'll let you go no questions asked. If you lose, then I'll deal with you and hear your story."
Eco looked at the sword in his hand, and up at Deitrich with a slightly sad smile, "This isn't very fair. You know bards don't use swords..."

The echos of laughter and children splashing in the streams had served to ease Hector into a good mood. It wasn't all the time that he was able to come to this hidden place, in order to watch something so simple. Leaning against the nearest tree, the crown prince and first son of the Noctircus royal family watched the small Hokulea girls as they squealed and kicked up the water.
"This is so peaceful. It's a shame I'm going to have to go back soon."
Looking at the woman that slept under the tree he stood beside, Hector knelt down beside her. His fingers brushed a few bangs away from her forehead as he pressed his lips against the dark forehead in a chaste but tender kiss. "Forgive me for having to leave, but hopefully you'll understand. I'm going to change things for the Hokulea, and for you."
With that, the gentle prince turned and headed back towards where he'd meet his retainers. They had a long journey back to the imperial city and to the castle. Hector had made up his mind on what he needed to do. After he had faded from view, Shingetsu opened her eyes sighing as her dark hand brushed against her forehead her eyes settling on the rippling water. Pulling her knees to her chest she looked up as the wind rushed past knocking a few leaves out. Slowly the leaves descended toward the ground.
"Hector...You're a fool."
